How do you tell Korean Animal Face Types apart?
Face types are well-known in Korea but could be slightly confusing for somebody who isn't familiar with the concept. Koreans even use the concept to describe their ideal romantic partner (이상형) before they go on blind dates!
In this post, we discuss the four (4) most common animal face types in Korea: cat 🐱, wolf 🐺, deer 🦌, and dinosaur 🦖.
We've also listed some idols that are widely thought to represent each of the face types. Try to tell what animal type face your fave is! Maybe multiple types apply to them :)
What are “Animal Face Types”?
Many people are familiar with face shapes, which are often categorized into “round-shape faces 🔴,” “diamond-shape faces 🔶,” and “heart-shape faces 💙.” Like these face shapes, it is common in Korea to compare someone’s face to an animal!
Depending on people’s facial features—like eyes, lips, and cheeks—and their overall aura, animals with similar features are often paired with people’s faces.
Most importantly, face types are just for fun! There are no absolute or objective standards. So, one idol may be typed under multiple different face types, and face types may also change over time or even be affected by different styling, makeup, and concepts!
