Album Sales

• IVE’s third single album, After LIKE sold more than 920,000 albums within the first week of release, a record that was three times higher than their previous release, LOVE DIVE.
  • Upon release, this record placed them second for the highest sales of an album within the first week of release by all Korean girl groups.
  • On September 1st, 11 days after the album release, After LIKE sold more than a million copies, making IVE the third Korean girl group in history to achieve million seller status.
• IVE’s first full-length album, I’ve IVE sold 1.1 million copies within the first week of release, making them the first Starship Entertainment group to achieve million seller status within the first week of release.
• IVE’s first mini album, I’VE MINE, sold 1.6 million copies within the first week of release, making it the third highest in initial album sales by all Korean girl groups.
  • As of December 2023, the total sales number of I’VE MINE exceeded 1.9 million.

Charts

• “After LIKE” ranked 23rd in the Spotify global chart and 82nd in the Spotify US chart. This was the second highest chart rating on Spotify at the time, after BLACKPINK.
  • “After LIKE” also achieved a PAK (Perfect All-Kill) by topping the real-time and daily charts of all Korean music sites at 12 PM on September 12th.
• In 2023, IVE became the first girl group in history to release three songs in a year that all achieved PAK, with “Kitsch,” “I AM,” and “Baddie.”
  • Including “After LIKE,” which was released in 2022, IVE currently has a total of 4 songs that have achieved PAK.
• “LOVE DIVE” has often been called “song of the year” for K-Pop fans in 2022; as one of the most successful singles of the year, the song has achieved the following:
  • Won ten music show awards
  • Ranked 1st in the 2022 Melon Year-End Chart; Ranked 1st in the Melon Monthly Chart in June.
    • They were the first 4th generation idol to rank 1st in the Melon Monthly Chart
  • Entered Spotify Global Top 50 Chart
  • Entered Billboard Global Chart, highest chart ranking in 15th place

Awards

• IVE became the first artist to receive both “Rookie of the Year” and “Song of the Year” (Daesang) across 3 major award shows in the same year, breaking the record set by Seo Taeji and the Boys 30 years ago in 1992.

• On January 7th, 2023, IVE became the first and only artist in history to ever receive “Rookie of the Year” and “Digital Song of the Year” (Daesang) in the same year for the Golden Disk Awards.

Other

• IVE won the 1st place at a Korean music show only 7 days after debut, the fastest girl group in history to achieve this feat (a tie with VIVIZ in 2022).
  • IVE also holds the record for being the first girl group in history to win 13+ music broadcast wins with their debut song, “ELEVEN.”
• Jang Wonyoung was the youngest girl group member (with IZ*ONE - “Violetta”), and Leeseo was the second youngest girl group member (IVE - “ELEVEN”) ever in the history of K-Pop girl groups to win the 1st place at a Korean music show.

MEMBER STATS

Vocals

• IVE members each have distinctive vocal tones across multiple ranges.
  • Rei and Gaeul mostly take the rap verses; An Yujin and Liz mostly take the high-range notes; Jang Wonyoung and Leeseo mostly take the middle- to low-range notes.
  • Even though there are no official “main vocal” positions within IVE, An Yujin and Liz are generally regarded as the main vocals or the “vocal line” of the group.

Dance

• IVE has generally been praised for its live dance performances. Reminiscent of the second-generation girl group performances that always included a “key choreography” in line with the lyrical concept of the song, hit tracks from IVE often have famous dance challenges that went viral.
  • Examples include the pre-chorus choreo for “LOVE DIVE” (starting with the lyrics “Narcissistic, my God, I love it”) and the chorus for “After LIKE.”
• All members of IVE have also been praised for their stage presence, especially facial expressions that match their “self-love” or “high-teen” concept.
• Even though there are no official “main dancer” positions within IVE, An Yujin and Gaeul are generally regarded as the main and lead dancers, respectively, or the “dance line” of IVE.

Rap

• Gaeul and Rei are the official rappers of IVE.
  • Rei, especially, often takes over the fast and more complicated rap verses, being praised for accurate delivery even though she’s not a native Korean speaker.
• Their first two title tracks, “ELEVEN” and “LOVE DIVE,” only included brief singing-rap parts as the songs were mostly melody-based instead of hiphop-based tracks. However, from their third release, “After LIKE,” IVE started to include longer rap verses in their songs.

Visual

• From debut, Starship Entertainment has put a lot of focus on promoting the members’ visuals with the tagline of “a girl group of all centers.”
• An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung are the unofficial “visual lines” of the group, with Jang Wonyoung being the unofficial “center” of the group.
• IVE is also known as one of the tallest girl groups of the 4th generation.
  • 4 out of the 7 members are over 170cm (5’ 7’’) in height, with the average height of the members being 169.4cm.
